Two Goal Monky

Not one goal but two! Euphoric or what! If only we'd used one of them in the endless 0-0 draws we might have had a chance of staying up.

Against a physical Bury side - who went down to 10 men when we were 1-0 up - we could have a bagful. We hit the  post twice and the miss by Franks right on half time will end up on "What Happened Next" on Question of Sport in the next few years.

If you weren't there the ball broke in the Bury box after the hard working Luke James chased down the ball and got the nervy keeper in a tangle.

Franks and James followed up as the ball bobbled towards the goal, but somehow Franks's touch sent it wide of the right upright. OK a defender was coming in but it really really should have been buried.

In many respects it was an odd game made a little more exotic by a bunch of about 20 middle-aged Germans, wearing Pools caps and scarves in the Mill House stand. [They sounded German but they may been Norwegian].

Behind them in the seats were a bunch of young fotballers from a junior club in Londonderry who were also out to enjoy themselves.

It would have been nice if we could have welcomed both groups with an announcement on the public address system. At the moment we need all the friends we can get.
