Pools make their second signing

Hartlepool United may have missed out on re-signing fomer favourite Tommy Miller, but they have got a player mangager Nealer Cooper believes could become the next Miller.

At 24, Simon Walton has now been on the books of 11 (yes, that's right, ELEVEN) clubs, but Cooper is delighted to get him.

He started his career with home-town club Leeds United and comes to Pools after being released by Plymouth Argyle. Between those two, he had spells at Charlton, Ipswich, Cardiff, QPR, Hull, Blackpool, Crewe and Sheffield United, some of them in loan deals.

He's had injury problems here and there and he left Argyle after agreeing to terminate his cotract so he could be nearer his family. But Cooper says he's a Tinkler-type player who captained Plymouth last season and who he is happier to have signed than one or two players he has missed out on.

Plymouth say they are sorry to lose a player who was at one time said to be their most expensive signing, and if he can rediscover his early-career potential, he could be a great signing.
