After the huge success of Hartlepool United's season ticket offer last summer, the club has announced details of this year's initiative to attract bigger crowds to Victoria Park.

The bad news is that after last season’s £100 for a full season, the price has  gone up by 55 per cent …but it still looks a massive bargain.

A year ago, the club needed to sell a certain number of tickets before the £100 price tag came into effect, but this time round it’s £155 for the season, and that works out at just £6.74 for each League One home game.

And as a bonus, every adult who buys a ticket will be entered in a draw which could win up to £15,000. The value of the drawn will increase in line with the number of tickets sold – 3,000 will earn a £5,000 prize, 4,000 a £10,000 price and 5,000 a £15,000 prize. There will also be second prizes, while every children’s ticket sold at £50 will earn an entry into a special draw with a club mascot prize.

As almost 6,000 season tickets were bought for last year’s bargain price, the chances are that this latest initiative will be just as popular, despite the price increase.

There was always a chance the cost would go up after Pools used the first season’s initiative to attract interest and bring news fans to the Vic.

Chief exec Russ Green told the Northern Echo: “Our prices are still less than half what they were a couple of years ago, you can't even watch local non-league football at these prices, and now we are offering a big incentive to supporters.”

Meanwhile, Pools  face a two-game Easter programme, away to Colchester on Good Friday and at home to Brentford on Monday, boss Neale Cooper and his players all keen to end the season on a high.
