Chris Turner has provided further evidence for the overwhelming argument that he is going to be appointed Hartlepool manager on a more permanent basis by saying that he won't be tempted to sign too many loan players next seasonb, and he is NOT interested in signing any of the three who were with the club at the end of this campaign.
That could cause some suprise amongst fans who have made it clear they would be keen to sign Daniel Nardiello from Blackpool, but we don't agree.
Nardiello played a major party in Pools escaping relegation and scored three goals in the last five games, but with James Brown fit and Adam Boyd returning to the club, Pools are more likely to need a big target man than a third skilful striker like Nardiello.
Step forward, if you are fit, Rune Lange (right).
But there's not major surprise over Turner not pursuing any interest in Keigan Parker and Joe Skarz - Parker because he did nowt and Skarz because he is too highly rated by Huddersfield and was only with Pools to get experience.
Turner has also told that bloke at the Mail that while he might sign the odd loan ploayers next season, he would prefer only to do so in an ermegency, adding that he doesn't want to be in a situation where three or four members of the squad are loan players.
Would he be doing things like signing Boyd, deciding not to try to sign Nardiello and talking about his feelings on the loan market if he wasn't going to be manager next season?
It looks a cast-iron certainty that Turner will get the job, unless he moves up a bit and somebody is appointed as a senior coach, but with Colin West returning to the club last season to do that job, this would be unlikely.
So why don't Pools get on with it, name Turner as boss, and let him get on with building a squad and the fans get on with telling him what he should do?
Because Ken does things his way, that's why ... and his actions in the past have strongly suggested that he believes the fans don't need to be told any more than is absolutely necessary.
One more thing before we go ... didn't CT say Dimi was going to sign before the end of last week?
