Hartlepool unbeaten run finally came to an end yesterday at Underhill but there were some positives to take away. Boland and Porter returned but in the end Barnet became the first side to do the double over us this season

All good things come to an end and Pools' unbeaten run of 23 games came to an end as Barnet beat a weakened Pools side 2-1 at Underhill

Wilson was forced not to play Ben Clarke (illness), Tony Sweeney and Micky Barron and that mean he had to reshuffle.  Liddle moved to centre back, Boland went back to centre midfield and Gibb went to right back despite Darren Williams being on the bench. The good news for Pools fans was that Boland started and Porter was on the bench and came on after 83 minutes.

It took only 3 minutes for Barnet to take the lead when Adam Birchall tapped home from close range to give the Bees an unexpected lead. Barnet by no means sat back on the lead, they came at Pools and Dimi was forced into making some strong saves and Ali Gibb cleared one effort off the line

Hartlepool should have been level when James Brown was quite clearly taken down in the box but the referee turned down the appeals

The second half didnt have many real chances as Pools struggled to get clear chances on goal. The equaliser did come however on 77 minutes when E Williams danced past the Barnet defense and and placed home the equaliser. At that point it looked like the unbeaten run would continue ...

... However on 81 minutes Puncheon ran at the Pools defense before unleashing a shot that went straight into the bottom corner from 20 yards.

It is by no means the end of the world that the run has come to an end. We are still top of the league and potentially only 2 games away from promotion as MK Dons failed to beat Grimsby.
On Monday against Accrington Wilson will probably have his strongest side of the season to pick from and Mondays game may be the start of another run that will lead Pools to the title
