Well we have been and seen but not conquered. A team of Hartlepool's greatest players in recent history gathered to represent the club at the North-East masters.

The team that showed up by no means disgraced themselves and played some very good football at points. They went down 2-1 to Newcastle and 3-1 to Sunderland, but probably the strangest result of the day was the 6-4 defeat to M'Boro.

Even though this was Pools first attempt at the masters, the fans went their and made a great atmosphere. Marton Scott and Steve Agnew were given the stick which they well deserved but it couldnt stop Scotty grabbing Sunderlands second goal of the game. He celebrated by holding his fists in the air infront of a group of Pools fans - who were probably well prepared to give him a good clobbering.

In the end Pools best players had to be Dalton and McKinnon who both played really well. Very little came to Joe Allon and Brian Honour but it has to be said that it was great to see some of the heros of yesteryear playing again
