Merry Xmas to all our readers. Arsenal's consistency has been somewhat lacking this season and has left some fans wondering can Arsenal actually win the Wenger Cup this year. Even the ever optimitic Arseblog is beginning to doubt it. Below our resident statitician trys to predict what the total points will be for this season and if that will be enough. The tables are based on points gained after the 17th game of the season reducing the 18th game to a starting point of zero. Got it? Well you have hours of mind numbing Xmas day to work it out - good luck (The Editor). Merlion's prediction follows:

This is the starting point for the famous Wenger Cup 2014/15 Playoff won by Arsenal FC for the last 4 seasons (with one season being 3rd and Chelski, being CL Cup winner replacing Tiny Totts at 4th spot).

The starting point is when I reduce the 6th spot - Arsenal - point counts to zero with “playoff” starts at Round #18 on December 26, 2014 Boxing Day weekend:

December 26, 2014 – Round #18 with Round #17 results “zeroise” with Arsenal results as the start with Arsenal 5 points behind Manchester United and 4 points behind WHU in 4th spot.

Lady Luck had kindly given us a fixture schedule that we play WHU and Saints in succession during Christmas Weekend to close the gap to 4th spot. Let’s see which team(s) will go down the Table faster that Christmas dressings in the New Year.

Not to sure we will take much from the WHU and Saints games.

I think we'll miss out on Wenger cup this season. Inconsistent team performance. Not enough quality in the team. Wenger will not win a league game this season against the likes of Chel$ki, $iteh, ManUre, Pool, Everton.

10 yrs ago we were fighting for the league title. 10 yrs later we were fighting for the fourth place AKA the Wenger Cup. How the mighty have fallen.

Saints is really going strong and it is a "must win" game against them on 1-Jan-15!

Guess not. It is a "must" that Chelski beat Tiny Totts.

• Arsenal lost 1-2 to Saints.
• Liverpool drew 2-2 with Leicester and ManU drew 1-1 with Stoke City.
• West Ham, Newcastle and Swansea all drew their matches and mostly likely will be out of Wenger Cup soon.
• Tiny Totts beat Chelski 5-3!
• Everton is out of Wenger Cup after losing 0-2 to Hull City.

Saints took:
- 1 point off Chelski
- 3 points off Arsenal
- 3 points off ManU

And Mighty Arsenal have yet to beat Abu Dhabi City, ManU, Chelski and Liverpool since 2013/14 in the league!

Saints is a bona fide Top-4 contender if they still remain Top-4 after Easter weekend.
