I have just got back from the match, that long drag back down to Wembley Park Station. I can't be bothered to write about the match, leastways not objectively. Fortunately Celine is compos mentis enough to post up something quite sensible. It would be a pity for his article to just be read on the forum, so here it is as a feature. Apologies for any errors but I haven't had time to edit it.

since Man United in 1999, and today were $h*t can't defend and Wenger needs to

Lets face it, we weren't brilliant yesterday but we werent particularly $h*t today either, Birmingham were on their uppers before Chesney and Koscielny gifted them an unlikely winner, meanwhile it was palpably clear today as it has been for the least 2 months and all the FA cup games that if RVP Cesc and Walcott arent playing then we arent very good. The other class acts in our line up Song and Nasri are knackered quite clearly. So would you be, if you had played 2 games a week for 8 months.
I dont get all the interest in the league cup, Gooners have allowed themselves to be whipped into a frenzy about it, paying £300 for seat, crying at the final whistle. I bet half the people who spent all that money didnt go to the Wigan game in the quarter finals. Last time we were in the league cup final, ie. the Chelsea game, Wenger cared so little about it that he played half a team. Everybodys forgotten that haven't they?
Nothings changed. Schezney is still a top quality young keeper but most high profile clubs would only be playing him as second or third choice simply down to inexperience, and the same goes for Koscielny, played well in the last 3 months but needs a rest and is not the finished article.

demonstrated so today, same as Koscielny did with the silly challenge at
Newcastle.
We are setting our standards agains Nemanja Vidic, remember. Thats
who we need to emulate, if we want to win something. We can't just sit there in
our own little bubble concentrating on the good bits and ignoring the bad bits
(or, as is increasingly common nowadays, blaming the referee). Jack Wilshere
needs a rest as well, Rosicky is not a good central midfielder and Chamakh is
not top quality, not now anyway, nor is Bendtner.
So the squad is work in progress and heading in the right direction. The league cup is exactly what it always has been, a small time trophy that allows the likes of Birmingham City to have an almighty big p*ss up every 50 years. I was cooking a roast dinner for half of todays game.
Its a good thing we lost, in many ways, for the long term progress of the club, because it wont give Wenger something to hide behind if the rest of the season goes @#$%& up.
Theres no reason why it should do. If the players lose against Sunderland next week or away at Spurs or whatever, it will be because the squad is knackered and full of injuries, nothing to do with a bit of bad luck against Obafemi Martins in a game against Birmingham City a few weeks back. If this result psychologically scars them, then they can fcuk off quite frankly.
Meanwhile, we still get undone by balls in the air, ie twice today, but does it happen often? no, not so often nowadays, so there are very few conclusions to draw from todays match, other than, if a squad of varying quality in various positions has to play too many games in a short space of time, and some of its marquee players are very injury prone, then it may not win much,

I feel you.. the only thing i can say today is; A BIG SHAME ON WENGER AND ALL THE ARSENAL PLAYERS WHO PLAYED TODAY.,.THEY ARE EITHER GOOD ENOUGH OR A BUNCH OF BOTTLERS.. THIS IS BIRMINGHAM FOR CRYING OUT LOUD..THIS IS THE CARLING CUP??? A CUP WE HAD NO RESPECT FOR UNTIL THE 5 YEARS DROUGHT CAUSED US TO SINK SO LOW THAT IT HAS BECOME A GREAT CUP. this is the birmingham that broke eduardo's leg and effectively ended our title challenge...have they done it yet again..we should expect a slide down to the pits cos we can't beat barca at the nau camp and we can jolly well hand the fa cup quarter finals to orient cos if we get to old trafford in this state( the ref's & bad calls) we are going down...
like you pointed out without cesc we are @#$%&..if cesc isn't playing then without theo & rvp we are equally @#$%&. now rvp is out of the barca game so that sums up wenger's arrogance that we are in 4 trophies..
when i saw the sub bench i knew it was over if we don't get 2 goals while hoping for the best..then we conceded..what a waist.... it is pitiable how the game ended...NO DISRESPECT BUT IT IS BIRMINGHAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Laughable really. It's getting so ridiculous it's becoming humourous. Wenger is forever hailed as some football professor and yet he's managed to lose three finals and two important semis in recent years plus watch his team collapse against weaker opposition on numerous occasions and yet there's always an excuse and then we move on and the failings are swept under the carpet.
Yesterday summed up Wenger's limitations as manager. Bizarre substitutions, Rosicky playing where Nasri should have been, farcical defending and very little grit or heart. This is the Arsenal way and it's down to one man.
Add to that the signings of average French league players and the reliance on one world class striker who gets injured every few months makes one wonder how Wenger keeps his job.

Its strange how everyone keeps purring over our squad but the only decent player outside the first 11 is shava everyone else is average at best
Well it could take a day to lose the first team to injury.
