At the end of the match Roeder thought Newcastle deserved a win, now deserve has nothing to do with how football matches are decided, but if he had wanted to win I suggest more than one shot on target in 90 minutes is prerequisite.

Newcastle restricted Arsenal to three shots on target all game, so Piss Poor Viewing, or PPV as Sky call it lives up to its name. £8!!!! They should have paid me that to endure such crap, plus the idiotic ramblings of George Graham who seems to be waiting in the sidelines for a phone call from an American billionaire.

 

Forget it George I have seen the spec for the post, it states must be able to win by more than 0ne nil, though no doubt Arsenal fans would have been grateful for such a score yesterday.

 

Some fans complain that Arsene can’t grind out victories, well he has managed to grind out a 0-0 draw, from such small beginnings mighty oak trees grow.

 

At half time I was desperate, I knew we couldn’t score, couldn’t we settle for 0-0 and go early? Not only can we not score but it is rare we complete a clean sheet. However my sense of doom was not fulfilled, on 84 minutes I thought we would actually score. Gilberto, miracle of miracles, hit a shot on target, Solano cleared it off the line. That was it, the sum total of excitement.

 

I wont bother to mention Webbs refereeing, Arsenal times does not lower itself to abusing referees and we are not going to change our policy for that little squirt (apologies to Big Ron).

 

But it wasn’t pointless; a defeat would have been four in a row, the worse run in 12 years – who was the manager then?  Four in a row would have been a further blow to the teams fragile confidence, when would the slide stop? Wenger is right not losing was the most important thing.

 

At least a draw has given temporary respite and a chance to regroup.

 

Silver Lining?

 

I thought Gallas had a solid game, and his spirited defence of Lehmann shows a good mind set.
