What is The Clarets Trust?

This is extracted from the Clarets Trust website and clearly states the intentions, hopes and purpose of Clarets Trust

The Clarets Trust is an Industrial & Provident Society set up in September 2004. We are a voluntary, democratic and not-for-profit organisation run by supporters, for supporters.

There are now over 130 Supporters' Trusts up and down the country all making a difference at their football and rugby league clubs and in their communities. The Clarets Trust is still a very young organisation. By forging partnerships with prominent local and national businesses and community organisations and running events, we aim to raise the profile of our work whilst also helping local communities and charities.

The Clarets Trust has three main aims as stated in the constitution:

• To buy shares in Burnley Football Club to promote supporter involvement.

• To give fans a voice through supporter representation.

• To promote Burnley Football Club within the community.

The Clarets Trust has a steering group consisting of Steve Corrigan, Meg Fawcett, Martin Barnes, David Newton and we are very pleased to say, the former Member of Parliament for Burnley Peter Pike. We also have close involvement with Edoardo Abis, the marketing manager for Burnley Football Club and Edward Lee from the Burnley Express.

There are also a number of volunteers who help the steering group to perform the day-to-day operation of the Trust such as setting up and maintaining this website (Trusts Website) and providing support at events. The more people that are willing to help then the better, the workload can be divided and the more the Trust will be able to achieve. Clarets Trust is now one year old and they have also just revamped their website, many details can be found on the new website, including Clarets Trust News and upcoming events. The site tells you how you can join and there is a special section for Members.

Clarets Trust policy is to now ensure all communication is provided on their excellent new website and all members or new potential members should visit the link above to keep updated. Clarets Trust from time to time will provide Press Releases and Announcements to this site and these will appear in the new Trust Menu on the left. Please ensure you visit regularly for updates.
