England won the Calcutta Cup on a bitter cold day at Murrayfield.  A game the Scots should have won but just did not have the finishing skils to do it!

England a new side, untested,  England a new management untested, well they were today at Murrayfield.  Scotland who seem unable to take their chances, who have been building for some time.... lost out again on their home turf to a fledgling England side.    

As a demanding fan, I asked that they win the Calcutta Cup for us or at least put up a good performance.  Well they won the cup and whilst I hope the performance will get better, hats off to them for their constant defence and never say die attitude.   Well done England this fan is proud of you all today.

At times this match was very difficult to watch especially when the score was 6- 3 and not much between the teams, the speed and at times frantic nature the match was played at had me feeling queasy.  As an armchair fan, at times I found myself getting up and moving around for a minute or so just to ease the tension I felt.

Many of the England players put in massive tackles today.  I thought Foden, Croft, Strettle, Chris our new Captain in fact all of them put their heart and soul into this match.  I don't really want to single any one player out but I must mention Farrell who I think is a star rising.

And what about Charlie Hodgson......... if anyone deserved a charge down TRY then it was him!   After all he has in the past been on the other side of the charge down, so I do admit to jumping up and down shouting well done Charlie, well done, how sweet that must have been for him.

The stats are amazing for this match England should not have won but lady luck and perseverance shone through for the England team on this day.
