England U16s team named for their opening fixture against Italy at Llandovery RFC, Wales  - Thursday 9th April Kick Off 4pm

 

Dom Barrow (Yorkshire) second-row forward  will captain  the team. Under the Four Nations rules, each member of the 26-man England squad drawn from schools all around the country will have at least one start and play at least one half of a match. 

Thursday April 9, Llandovery RFC:

Wales v France, 2pm

Italy v England, 4pm.

Sunday April 12, Parc y Scarlets, Llanelli:

Wales v England, 2pm

France v Italy, 4pm.

Wednesday April 15, Cardiff RFC, Cardiff Arms Park: 

England v France, 2pm

Wales v Italy, 4pm.

Head Coach Phil Stanlake, his assistant coaches and the team are based a few miles outside Cardiff.  The boys have an exciting schedule with Italy first up, then Wales to face on Easter Sunday at the new Parc y Scarlets in Llanelli - the 15,000-capacity home to the Scarlets regional team - and the concluding match against the French on April 15 at Cardiff RFC's historic Arms Park ground next door to the Millennium Stadium.

Lloyd Morgan, the England 16 Group chairman of selectors, said: "We've been made very welcome by our counterparts from Wales and are looking forward to a hard-fought and enjoyable tournament.   "Italy will be formidable opponents at Llandovery, and following that we face Wales, who always seem to grow in stature when they pull on the red jersey and we trust our boys will do the same in the white of England. It is their first time representing their country and they know it is a responsibility but also something to be relished and enjoyed."
