Renault F1 boss and manager of Fernando Alonso, Flavio Briatore says he had nothing to do with Alonso moving to Mclaren Mercedes after his current deal with Renault runs out after the end of the 2006 season
Renault Chief Flavio Briatore claims he had nothing to do with the deal which took the 2005 world driver champion Fernando Alonso away from his Renault team to their rivals Mclaren Mercedes.

This may come as a shock as Flav is also Alonso's manager.

“I was at no time directly or indirectly involved in the conduct of these negotiations," said Briatore.

"Fernando made a personal decision that his future lies outside the Renault team when his current contract expires at the end of 2006.

"He contacted, and negotiated with McLaren at his own instigation.”

Does this mean that the relationship between Flavio and Fernando is nearly over?
