James Walker arrives on loan

Hartlepool United have made their first signing of the new transfer window: James Walker, an England Youth International from Charlton Athletic, will join on loan tomorrow. Walker only signed professional terms this month, but even that is some achievement when you consider that he's still qualified for the Addicks u18 side. Although he's yet to make a first team appearance, he has a squad number and has been involved with the reserve side on a number of occasions.

Will Walker help us pull out of the mire we increasingly look to be in? Not on his own if today's performance is anything to go by (but more of that later), and it would be unfair to expect him to. This isn't a seasoned pro, it's a young lad - albeit a highly promising one - set to make his senior debut.

Hopefully there will be further news about signings soon: the window is about to re-open, and the free-for-all is about to begin.
