Quite why Craig Hignett failed at Pools is a bit of mystery. On paper he strengthened the squad and at the start of the season there was massive optimism but it just didn't happen.
Too much chopping and changing perhaps, and you always had the feeling that Craig didn't know what his best starting eleven was.
So he must have known time weas running out, and a poor show at Crawley was the last straw as we inch closer to the drop zone.
Stevenage are next up this week - will it be Sam Collins in temporary charge or former Southampton manager Dave Jones in the dug-out?
Whoever it is we need the "new manager" bounce.
