Craig Hignett and Curtis Fleming have done their bit over the summer - now it's up to the players.  Relegated Colchester are the visitors to the Northern Gas and Power Stadium for an intriguing opener ..

The big question is who will play in midfield and who will be given the job of scoring the goals which were once again elusive in the pre-season games.

There is pretty much a full strength squad available with 18 players all vying for a start - and even a palce on the bench.

Pools squad: Carson, Magnay, Richards, Bates, Nsiala, Jones, Carroll, Featherstone, Woods, Hawkins, Laurent, Deverdics, Alessandra, Amond, Paynter, Thomas, Oates, Bartlett
