Bingham Misses Out

You can bring in good players on loan but when you want passion can they be expected to provide it? Pool started brightly against Barnet but when the visitors got possession and knocked it around a bit they were always a threat and were full value for their point.

Rhys Oates got our goal after a quarter of an honour after a great ball sent the lively Bingham racing down the right. He  cut in along the line and his low cross was tapped home by the Pools winger.

Oates also had our best chance of the second half when he did everything right in bursting into the box and rounding the keeper only to see his effort blocked on the line.

Bingham again had a couple of similar chances but couldn't get his shots passed Stephens in the visiting goal.

Barnet deserved their goal and it came after 65 minutes through bustling dangerman  Akinde  who gratefully acceptedt the gift  when a mix up between Dan Jones and keeper  Carson left the ball in  no man's land.

That should have been the cue for Pools to have a go. Instead the game got flatter as it went on. Every player doing his job and, in most cases quite competently, but there wasn't the fire in their bellies that the crowd demanded.
