The season is beginning to get really complicated for Hartlepool United – and there’s little they can do about it. The weather and their winning run in the FA Cup have combined to leave Pools with four League One games to rearrange, and the forecast for the busy Christmas period suggests that list could grow longer.

The weekend home game against Charlton had no chance of going ahead once the frost got into the playing surface at the Vic, and was called off after a lunchtime inspection on Friday.
That means Pools have home matches against Notts County (rearranged for Tuesday Jan 25), Southampton (Tue Feb 22) and Charlton to fit in during the second half of the season, when they also have to fix their away trip to Bristol Rovers, rearranged because Pools are at Watford in the third round of the FA cup the day they were due to go to the south west, January 8.
If that game is postponed or needs a replay, the headache will grow.
If there is any consolation in the pile-up, it is that three of the four games are at home, but their away record this season suggests that they have little to fear on their travels. getting the rearranged Yeovil cup-tie played was also a bonus.
Pools are due at Huddersfield on Boxing Day, but there is snow in West Yorkshire now and the prospects there are no better than anywhere else in the country.
Mick Wadsworth is desperate for that game to go ahead. He told the Northern Echo: “We are getting so far behind now as there are three home games and the Bristol Rovers game to come.
“Even if we get through Christmas, there’s still four games to catch up on.’’
