Hartlepool set to be unchanged at Walsall

Ben Clark -

Hartlepool will probably be unchanged at Walsall, Gary Liddle on the bench for the second game running, as they look for that vital breakthrough on their travels. Ben Clark got his first game of the season after recovering from injury by replacing Liddle in midfield, and the big man's presence certainly made a difference to the team performance.

The result might have been no different, another away defeat, but even some of the most biased Northampton fans agreed that Pools deserved to get something out of the game.
But praise from the opposition doesn't earn League points, of course, and Pools badly need a lift after picking up just one away win so far this season.
That came at Peterborough, who coincidentally won t Walsall last weekend, yet Pools have played well enough to get something out of all their away games, apart from at Millwall where they were c**p.
Danny Wilson (empics)Now Pools boss Danny Wilson (right) says that he believes his team is close to turning the corner and finds it hard to believe that they can't start sticking the goals in regularly on their travels after playing well in everything but their finishing at Northampton.
He told the Hartlepool Mail (though we don't know how when they are supposed to be barred out - see below): "We are not far away from getting it right and when we do there will be a team who will get a bit of a pummelling.
"You can't keep playing like we are doing and not taking chances on a regular basis. Once we get that little bit of momentum in our favour then I think it could be a big problem to the opposition.
"We seem to be doing a lot of things right but we are not coming away with the points we think we deserve. Maybe our luck will change, but I have to say if we continue playing like we are doing it will turn quicker than some people expect.
"I have got no complaints about how we are playing. It is just the odd mistake we are being punished for at the moment. But we are creating lots of chances and we have to take heart from that."
With no news on an agreement between Pools and the Mail, we can only assume that they are still not friends, so we have to guess that they got their comments from Wilson from another source before we passed them on - BBC Boro? Club website?
We hope Danny hasn't been talking to the Mail, cos he'll get wrong off Ken Hodcroft.
