Pardew Regrets Spat As Ex Referee Calls For 8 Game Ban

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has admitted he "massively regrets" his involvement in today's touchline spat with Hull Citys David Meyler. Pardew added that his side were fantastic after they beat Hull City 4-1. He told the BBC;

"It was just a heat of the moment thing - I massively regret it.

I will have to sit down from now on because that is two or three incidents involved in.

I didn't mean to do anything aggressive or anything but I did put my head forward and that is enough I think. It will teach me to sit down.

It took the gloss off a fantastic performance for us. We were terrific."

After the game former referee Mark Halsey called for Pardew to be given an 8 game ban, whilst former manager Graeme Souness announced he thinks Pardew should be sacked and Alan Shearer suggested Pardew may walk.

During the commentary Sky Sports News' Jeff Stelling was quite clear in what he thought saying that "the book is about to be thrown" at Pardew for the incident.

There is no question that Pardew will be under investigation by the FA who warned him early this year to watch his conduct.
