Colin Lee had been keen on Jamie Lawrence long before he signed for the Saddlers on deadline day 2003. His ability to play in a variety of different positions will prove to be important to the Saddlers who will operate with a small squad. 

He finished 02/03 playing in Walsall's midfield, putting in some impressive performances as the Saddlers pulled clear of the relegation zone. He has spent pre-season 03/04 playing for Jamaica in the CONCACAF Cup.
