Greg Rusedski was forced to come from a set behind to beat Franco Squillari 4-6 6-1 7-5 in the first round of the Franklin Templeton Tennis Classic in Arizona.

Greg Rusedski was forced to come from a set behind to beat Franco Squillari 4-6 6-1 7-5 in the first round of the Franklin Templeton Tennis Classic in Arizona.

The British No 2 got off to a shaky start as the Argentinian left-hander came out of the blocks firing and broke the Rusedski serve early in the first set to take a 4-2 lead.

It was an advantage the Canadian-born British number two could not recover, eventually losing the opening set 6-4.

It was the 2nd Round Before the brits game finally came together.

"I wouldn't call it a pretty match, but I'm pleased to get through it today," the unseeded Rusedski said. "The conditions are tough, the balls go through the air quicker.

"It's just a matter of getting used to the perception. If you're a little bit off with the timing here, it's going to sail on you. So you must hit it cleanly or its going to go all over the place."
