British & Irish Lions Fixtures 2021

The British & Irish Lions will play three Test matches against the Springboks on Saturday 24 July in Cape Town, Saturday 31 July in Johannesburg and then a potential series decider on Saturday 7 August back in Johannesburg. And with five other matches that will also take place in Johannesburg, Pretoria and Cape Town. All eight matches of the Tour will be played in Gauteng or Cape Town to minimise the risk of disruption that could be caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The schedule accommodates stable team bases and training venues and significantly reduces travel

3 July - Emirates Lions, 17:00 BST (Ellis Park, Johannesburg)

7 July - Cell C Sharks, 18:00 BST (Ellis Park, Johannesburg)

10 July - Vodacom Bulls, 17:00 BST (Loftus Versfeld, Pretoria)

14 July - South Africa 'A' Team, 19:00 BST (Cape Town Stadium, Cape Town)

17 July - DHL Stormers, 17:00 BST (Cape Town Stadium, Cape Town)

 

24 July - First Test v Springboks, 17:00 BST (Cape Town Stadium, Cape Town)

 

31 July - Second Test v Springboks, 17:00 BST (Soccer City, Johannesburg)

 

7 August - Third Test v Springboks, 17:00 BST (Soccer City, Johannesburg)

What a disappointing series: the SA antics off the pitch (and on it with Erasmus); awful tactics by the Lions matching the Boks in a bore-fest until Finn Russell came on; and finally the ref guessing calls at the death in the third test!
