New Zealand v England 2nd Test 14th June 2014
New Zealand showed why they are the number one team in the world at this moment in time. England started really well and were up within the first few minutes with a penalty from Owen Farrell and try from winger Marland Yarde, converted by Farrell. suddenly we were 10-0 up and looking good for the money. Marland Yarde - all pics empics The match played out at a fast and furious pace back and forth, very exciting to watch as a spectator. Farrell missed a penalty conversion (and with the final score being 28-27 - this would have made such a difference) but not to be. New Zealand converted two penalties in the first half and England ran in at half time leading 10-6.
Second half the 'All Blacks' upped the tempo, their passing skills were phenomenal and England were outclassed in the second half big style. They ran rings around England and made them look decidedly second best. England missed opportunities both in the first and second half, something you can't do at this level. Farrell was sin binned for not attempting (and that is the key not attempting) to roll away. England were up against it but dug in and managed to get two further tries, oh! and the Brwon try did touch the ground it was quite clear on the slow motion play back but one eyed New Zealander's would no doubt think otherwise)
All in all again lots to work on and amazingly we were only 1 point short of the Draw and 2 points for the win - If only that penalty had gone over .......
Onwards and upward they say, it would be nice to get one win even though we have lost the series, we can only hope. |
