Also in the backs, Emily Scott returns at fly-half and Megan Goddard and Leanne Riley form a new centre partnership. Wasps’ Hannah Edwards moves to full back from centre. In the pack Ellie Gatlin wears the Number 4 shirt, while Abbie Scott, Fiona Fletcher and Kayleigh Callaway-Bawden all start.

Bennett said: “We have made some significant changes for this game, specifically with Captain Fiona Davidson, Fiona Fletcher and Emily Scott all returning. They bring a wealth of experience with them. Leanne Riley also returns from the successful England Sevens team and will start her first U20s game this season. Hannah Edwards also comes in at fullback with Georgia Peedle picking up an injury on Wednesday.”

England U20s head into the match on the back of Wednesday’s 11-5 defeat, but it was a much improved performance after a 50-0 loss against France in Paris in March.

Bennett added: “For those players who played in Paris and featured in the game on Wednesday this is a fantastic opportunity for them to show how they continue to improve.

“Although Wednesday was a much better improvement we are still looking to make another step-up on Saturday. We challenged France well on Wednesday and we provided a much better contest and that is exactly what we asked them to do. The expectation this Saturday is that we put exactly that on the park again and that we make France fight for every inch of territory as we look to create more attacking opportunities and more pressure.”
