World Champion Fernando Alonso won his 3rd race of the season at his home Spanish Grand prix ahead of Michael Schumacher and headed a Renault double podium with Giancarlo Fisichella finishing 3rd ahead of Massa who finished 4th
Ferando Alonso put in a super quick performance to ensure that he won his home grand prix at Spain. The Spaniard started from pole position and dominated the race from start to finish!
Alonso managed to gain a healthy lead in the opening stint of the race ahead of team mate Giancarlo Fisichella and the Ferrari of Michael Schumacher. He made the first stop and managed to stay ahead of Schumacher although Fisi could not do the same. From that point on till the end of the race the positions stayed the same with the gap not really fluxuating between them.
The Spanish fans will have walked away from the circuit pleased seeing what they came to see, An Alonso victory over Schumacher, gaining ground on him in the drivers championship and Alonso's team Renault gaining ground on Ferrari.
