Gonzalez returns to White Sox

Miguel González has returned to the Chicago White Sox only a few months after being traded away to the Texas Rangers.

The veteran right hander agreed to a one-year $4.75 million contract while outfielder Jacob May was designated for assignment.

González, 33, started last season at the White Sox but was traded to the Rangers in August. He went 8-13 with a 4.62 ERA in 27 starts. Throughout his career Gonzalez went 52-54 with a 3.95 ERA in 871 1/3 innings in 152 appearances (145 starts). He spent his first four seasons with the Baltimore Orioles before moving to Chicago in 2016.

In a statement the White Sox’s senior VP / general manager Rick Hahn said: “Bringing Miggy back not only strengthens the options for our pitching staff but also returns another quality individual to our clubhouse.”
