Ipswich Town dropped to 14th in the coca-cola championship following a 1-1 with Coventry at the Ricoh Arena earlier today.

Coventry were much the better side in the first half of the game and created a lot more than Town in the final third with Dele Adebola having an effort deflected over the bar after some neat build up play involving Gary McSheffrey.

Naylor went close for Town in the 13th minute but he failed to fully connect with Jim Magilton’s corner.

Adebola and McSheffrey continued to provide the threat for the home side but just couldn’t find a way past Lewis Price in the Town goal, Dele found Gary inside the box but the striker wasn’t quite quick enough to get on the end of the sublime ball, moments later Marcus Hall had crossed the ball back into the box for Adebola to head into the arms of Price.

Coventry ‘keeper Marton Fulop was called into action by Nicky Forster in the 27th minute after he met McEveley’s cross at the back post but was unable to find the net.

Coventry captain Stephen Hughes hit the post from 20-yards with a left footed effort which had Price beaten.

After the half time break Town manager Joe Royle replaced Ian Westlake with Matt Richards as Town went in search of a goal, which came in the 50th minute thanks to on-loan West Ham midfielder Gavin Williams who marked his Town debut with a goal when he diverted in Richards’ cross to give Town a 1-0 lead.

Micky Adams replied to Town’s goal by replacing Doyle with Kevin Thornton and although Thornton didn’t get the goal Coventry did, just five minutes after Town had taken the lead the home side were back level when McSheffrey fired home.

The Sky Blues nearly took the lead twice soon after, Adebola sent a header from a free-kick wide before sending another effort just off target.

Sam Parkin fired a shot into the stands from 18-yards before both sides made changes as they went for all three points, Dean Bowditch replaced Nicky Forster while Andy Morrell came on for Coventry in place of Adebola.

But despite the attacking players coming on the game fizzled into a draw, a point for both sides which leaves Town 14th in the table 4 points off the play-offs.
