Report: Derby 3-3 Town

Town came out of last night’s game against Derby County with a point after twice coming from behind to level the scores.

Town opened the scoring ten minutes in when Richard Naylor got on the end of a Jim Magilton cross and headed the ball home to give Town the lead.

Derby then assumed control of the game and control of the game and could have had the lead a lot sooner than the 38th minute as Morten Bisgaard was kept out by Price, Johnson headed over the bar from a yard out and Tudgay headed across the face of goal.

On-loan Southampton striker Dexter Blackstock made it 1-1, Emerson Thome providing the free kick which the youngster headed in from three yards.

Five minutes later the Rams had the lead when Tudgay headed in Bisgaard’s cross, but they failed to hold the lead and minutes later Town were level after Jim Magilton curled a free over the Derby County wall and past Kevin Poole to make it 2-2 with three minutes left to play in the first half.

Derby started the second half the better side but Town found the back of the net first, how ever Sam Parkin’s effort was ruled out for offside and moments later the Rams had taken the lead, Blackstock again the scorer from 12 yards.

Some poor defending from Derby almost allowed Sam Parkin to level the scores before Blackstock came close to getting his hat-trick for Derby before Town did level the scores.

Darren Currie’s cross was met by the head of Matt Richards from the edge of the penalty area and into the net with 7 minutes to go.

Sam Parkin nearly won the game for Town when he headed (yes you Muppets in the North Lower he can head the ball) the ball into the arms of Kevin Poole.
