Town bounced back from last Sunday’s derby defeat against Norwich with a 2-0 against Leeds at Elland Road.

Leeds started the better side and created the first of their many chances after 8 minutes, Richard Cresswell’s cross was headed up by Sito and Rob Hulse got his head onto the ball before any Town defender and headed the ball goalwards but Price tipped his header over.

 

The home side couldn’t make the corner count but came agonisingly close to taking the lead soon after, Eddie Lewis sent in a low cross which evaded every one including Leeds duo Richard Cresswell and Rob Hulse.

 

Lewis was at the heart of several Leeds attacks and also had a couple of efforts on goal himself, Sito blocked his first effort on 24 minutes and two minutes later he saw his shot coming flying back off the post.

 

Leeds couldn’t find the net but with one of their few attacks in the first half Town did, Dean Bowditch used his pace to break down the right wing before crossing into Sam Parkin who headed home to give Town a truly undeserved lead.

 

Leeds had a great opportunity to draw level just before half time when they were awarded a penalty after Town midfielder Darren Currie had fouled Shaun Derry, referee Mark Halsey awarded the home side a penalty which Cresswell stepped up to take but blasted the ball against the bar.

 

Neither side made any changes at the start of the second half and the game continued as it had been before the break.

 

Eddie Lewis was denied by Price after being put though by Cresswell, Leeds continued to attack Town but couldn’t find a way past Price.

 

While Leeds couldn’t find the net for the first time, Sam Parkin went and scored his second of the afternoon, Sam got on the end of a lose ball and fired past Neil Sullivan with his right foot from 12 yards to give Town a 2-0 lead with 20 minutes to go.

 

Leeds brought on Robbie Blake for the final 18 minutes as they searched desperately for a goal that never came.
