Ipswich Town slumped to their third league defeat of the season today, going down 2-0 against Sheffield United.

The home side took the lead after just five minutes when Town failed to clear David Unsworth’s corner allowing Steve Kabba to score his fifth goal of the season.

 

Neil Warnock’s men pilled on the pressure in search of a second goal to kill the game off as early as possible, Ifill fired just wide after 10 minutes before Kabba tried his luck from distance.

 

Phil Jagielka was next in line to try and extend United’s advantage with his effort from the edge of the box which Price could only parry.

 

Ifill then fired just over the bar from 30-yards, soon after Richard Naylor and Kevin Horlock picked up yellow cards for unsporting behaviour before the break.

 

The Blades continued to look sharp up front, Ifill playing a big part in their dominance of the game.

 

Town had their best and only chance of the game to go level on the hour mark when Kabba hauled down Sito in his own area, referee Phil Dowd awarded Town a penalty.

 

Darren Currie stepped to take the spot kick but his effort was saved by Blades ‘keeper Paddy Kenny.

 

Sito saw red with three minutes to go for a second yellow card and Town’s misery was compounded when Kabba scored a second in final minute of stoppage time.
