Ten man Town moved up to 6th in the table following a 2-1 against bottom of the table Millwall at the New Den earlier today.
Darren Currie scored the opener for Town in the first, Ben May equalized for the home side midway through the second half before Town were reduced to ten men when Richard Naylor got sent off for a professional foul and Sam Parkin scored the winner ten minutes from time.
Town manager Joe Royle fielded a full strength side with Fabian Wilnis, Jim Magilton, Owen Garvan, Ian Westlake and Sam Parkin all returning to the starting line up.
Millwall created the first chance of the game after just three minutes when David Livermore fired his low effort just wide of Lewis Price’s post.
Town then went on the offensive with Richard Naylor and Kevin Horlock both coming close from corners before Darren Currie opened the scoring.
Andy Marshall scuffed his clearance which fell to Jim Magilton who played a through ball to Currie who chipped the ball over the former Town ‘keeper to give Town a 1-0 lead.
Millwall midfielder Carlos Fangueiro tried to get his side level soon after the restart but blasted his effort well over the bar.
The home side made two changes at the half time break with Ben May and Marvin Elliot coming on for Fangueiro Jody Morris.
The home side had enjoyed some good spells of Possession in the first half but never managed to find the final touch and that appeared to be the case in the second half, which lead to Carl Asaba coming off midway through the second half with Don Hutchison coming on in his place.
The lack of final touch in the first half was made up for in spectacular fashion by Millwall when they got their equaliser, Simpson sent the ball forward to Ben May who controlled it with his chest before spinning and hitting the ball from 25-yards into the net on 68 minutes.
Town’s luck got worse after 76 minutes when Richard Naylor got sent off for pulling back Barry Hayles, how ever Town are appealing this decision.
The bad luck did change four minutes later when Darren Currie crossed in from the left hand side to Sam Parkin who headed home to give Town a 2-1 lead and three points.
