Town squeezed past League Two side Chester City and into the 4th round of the FA Cup with a mildly convincing 1-0 win earlier tonight.

Matt Richards scored the only goal of the game in the 84^th minute when he fired a curling shot home into the bottom left of the goal.

 

Both sides had chances to score long before then with Town going close through two Gary Roberts free kicks and Chester did have the ball in the net twice but both goals were ruled out.

 

Ipswich: Price, Wilnis, Bruce, Naylor, Harding, Peters, Williams, Legwinski (Richards 46), Roberts, Lee, Haynes (Clarke 76).
