PMM: Derby 2-1 Town
By Aston November 30 2006
Town manager Jim Magilton was not impressed with the performance of the referee in Town’s game against Derby last night.

Jim: “I have no complaints about Simon's two cards. They were stupid bookings and both deserved, one for kicking the ball away and the other for a rash challenge, I will fine him and he owes his team-mates an apology because he was very irresponsible. He's got to learn and learn quickly otherwise he's going to end up just an average player.

“Before the sending-off I felt really comfortable and thought we could go on and win the game and even after we went down to 10 men they only forced Lewis into making one real save.

“I would like to know how they finished with 11 men though. I don't like to see any player sent-off. Michael Johnson is a terrific pro but he got a yellow card and then went straight through the back of Alan Lee to give away a foul.

“It was another booking yet the referee didn't see it that way and I have difficulty understanding that.

“Seth Johnson also went over the top on Owen Garvan yet only got a yellow. It was a red card offence.

“I'll be sending a video to the referee so he can take a look, just like I will be sitting down with the players and watching the game because we can't carry on giving away goals from set-pieces, especially in the last seconds of games. It has to stop.”
