Report: SUFC 1-3 Town
By Aston October 21 2006
Town ended a run of three defeats with a 3-1 win against Southend at Roots Hall earlier today, Billy Clarke, Sylvain Legwinski and Alan Lee getting the goals.

The game had barely started when Town were forced to make their first substitution, Lewis Price had started the game in goal but after a clash with Shrimpers striker Matt Harrold he had to be replaced by Shane Supple after 8 minutes.

Billy Clarke came on to replace Jon Macken after 22 minutes and 7 minutes later he gave Town the lead when he headed Jaime Peters’ cross past Darryl Flahavan in the Southend goal.

Town made it 2-0 just minutes after the second half had kicked off when Sylvain Legwinski volleyed home from 25 yards after Southend failed to clear Matt Richards’ cross properly.

Alan Lee made it 3-0 on 50 minutes after Billy Clarke had broken free of the Southend defence to cross to an un-marked Lee who took his time before firing home with his right foot.

Simon Francis got a goal back for the home side on 65 minutes but Town managed to keep the 2 goal lead and leave Essex with all three points.
