Newcastle United Reserves copied the Newcastle United Youths by beating Hartlepool 4-0 on Friday.

Daryl Smylie got Newcastle off the mark on 17 minutes after tapping in a low cross from Irish winger, Alan O’Brien.

Boyd and Gate went close in the next 10 minutes for their respective teams, and Hartlepool were given a chance to equalise when Huntington handled Boyd’s cross in the box, but Tony Caig saved the penalty.

O’Brien put another low cross in 2 minutes later, and this time Marc Walton steered the ball home to give the Magpies a 2-0 lead.

O’Brien got his 3rd assist, this time crossing the ball high to Micheal Chopra on 38 minutes who headed home to give Newcastle a 3-0 lead going in at half time.

After a hat-trick of assists, Man of the Match Alan O’Brien didn’t manage to score, but the 4th and final goal did go to Smylie which was made out of nothing at all.

FINAL SCORE: 0-4
