Player Profile - Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa: Newcastle Lodge £7M Bid?

Newcastle United are reported to have lodged a £7million bid for Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa. The French press is suggesting that a deal is on the table with Newcastle awaiting a response from Montpellier. The 23 year old was initially linked with a move to Newcastle last January,  when he was reported to have travelled to Tyneside for a medical.

Back in the summer AC Milan lodged a bid for the defender but saw it rejected, the fee was undisclosed. It came as Yanga-Mbiwa confirmed he would be interested in a move to Milan, but he would also consider Newcastle as a stepping stone to that move.

In August he said;

"I do not exclude the possibility of renewing my contract with Montpellier.

Playing for Milan would certainly be a great opportunity for me, so now we wait.

I know that Newcastle are also interested in me. Newcastle would be a great opportunity for me, and I would hope that eventually I could join Milan.

Joining Newcastle before Milan would give me the chance to mature even more and gain more experience. We'll see what happens."

It look like if he came to NUFC he'd just be using us as a stepping stone to greater things.



I'm not proud if he's any good lets get him.

Especially if we go down he won't be hanging around to play Championship football not many will.
