2. Craig Pead

2. Craig Pead

Craig Pead joined Walsall initially on loan from Coventry City in March 2005 until the end of 2004/05 season, after helping the club stay in League 1, where he impressed manager at the time Paul Merson in the eight games he played in, which saw him settle into his right-back role, he was rewarded with a permanent deal in May 2005.

The former England youth international came through the ranks at Coventry City and signed professional contract at Highfield Road in September 1998 and he went on to make his Football League debut at the end of the 2001/02 season before he enjoyed a solid spell at full-back the following year, where he claimed a regular starting place in the starting line-up.  However his starting opportunities were limited in the 2003/04 season although he did do rather well later on at right-back later on that season.

He failed to make any appearances in the 2004/05 campaign for the Sky Blues, although he spent two successful loan spells away from Highfield Road, at Notts County in September 2004 and at Walsall in March 2005 before joining The Saddlers at the end of the season.
