Derbyshire cricket on the Play Cricket network

Fixture Secretary Chris Higginbottom has set-up a superb official site for the Derbyshire Premier and Derbyshire County Leagues on the Play Cricket network. Chris has been playing around with the site for a couple of years, but it now has a very professional look to it.

Not only does the site contain all the facts and figures you could ever need, but Chris told Sting In The Tail "We carry other stuff than just stats; all Gwyn's reports, official press releases, copies of league forms, a weekly preview of the top divisions, player moves, opinion polls, Play-cricket prize competitions, the exchange (where you can get anything from a fixture for next week to an overseas for next season!), and more stuff that I haven't explored yet." The site also contains a shop, which Chris hopes will prove useful, a calendar and a picture gallery. It makes a great companion site for Sting In The Tail.

Highlights of the site include:

• Bowling averages for all divisions
• Fielding stats for all divisions
• Detailed league tables
• Searchable fixtures
• Searchable results

More than enough there to key the most ardent of "stattos" amused for several hours.

Chris is quite rightly delighted at the success of the site. He says on the site's front page: "We have had our 12,000th page impression since we started in March, and are well on target for 7000 this month!" Something to be proud of Chris.

As Chris says: "It's more a resource for the league clubs; longer term I would like to see every club join up and really get the stats thing going, and to be able to use the site as a real focal point for the league."
