Reaction and pics to the Peterborough game

As usual, we bring our reaction and pictures from the Peterborough United game that ended 2-1 to the Posh. The game was no contest as Posh dominated the game whereas Lincoln City Statue Club could barely get a site on goal and even that 1 flatters us as we deserved nothing.

Without trying to sound funny or anything but in a way, I'm glad we've lost. For weeks we've played awfully, but because we haven't been losing, everyone seems to think we've been absolutly amazing, now that a result actually reflected the performance, we can make progress as the players try to make those mistakes go away.

Can someone please explain to me why we brought Paul Mayo back to the club? He was pretty bad before he left and he's just awful now. He's played out of position recently so he has a slight excuse in that department but I can't recall more than 2 things he's done right since he got back to Sincil Bank and without trying to sound rude, he's the weak link in the team.

There were very few positives to take out of today's game but (and I know some of you have already predicted what I'm about to saying) but that goal by Dean Keates was awesome and easily the best goal of the match. However, it only took the brief attention away from a game that Peterborough had dominated.

Our next league game is against bottom club Torquay (I'm already dreading making the 13 hour round-trip) but the Imps' next outing is in the Carling Cup against Premiership side, Fulham and if City win *sniggers to self* then we could draw one of the major european sides in Man Utd, Chelski or Arsenal.

"We didn't get going until Peterborough scored their second goal. Then we upped the pace but it didn't make much difference. I was disappointed. It was just one of those days for us. We were second best all game."

"Our midfield players are doing well but up front we're not scoring goals. We've got a lot to offer and a lot more to show than we produced."

"We knew it was going to be a major battle but Lincoln never broke us and only created a few half chances.

"I thought we deserved it. We were only interested with getting three points and that's what we finished up with.

"We had some good clear-cut chances and Danny Crow should have scored twice before half-time but in the end we could have scored a few more. Maybe the team is starting to come together and I was very pleased with the way things went."

Mark Wright, manager, Peterborough United.

"Today i felt that pboro deserved their win, our fans decided to kill gainy with loads of abuse but backfired as it only seem to fire him up even more and went on to set up their second goal.

I personally think looking at our players and their positions (putting aside formation for a minute) then we have a good team. Decent defenders, decent midfielders, and some good strikers who might get a goal or two if they had a shot on goal given the right service.

Tactically our system proves that we will not lose many games and might even push for a playoff place, this is obviously great for the directors at the club. However i think that we are better than this.

I for one am sick of it, to start with 3 years ago it was a great excuse because of the situation the club was in, financial difficulties meant a weak squad and the long ball frantic game was accepted because it got us to the playoffs. But now we have a decent squad and it is seems near disrespectable to be playing this sort of football.

Keates and Kerr now give us great options and we have a solid group of defenders, however for the forseeable future am sure we are going to struggle tactically.

I haven't heard the interview after the game however i'm sure ' that we were excellent from start to finish ' and ' we are a good team with good players '."

"Lincoln were awful and there was only one team who was going to win the game. It's about time that we put in a decent performance away from home, surely this division can't be that hard if Grimsby and Carlisle are at the top.
