Jekyll and Hyde set to return

City look to continue excellent form this Saturday and former Lincoln player, Peter Gain is set to return to Sincil Bank on Saturday after 6 years with the Imps. Gain was known as Jekyll and Hyde, sometimes he would be the best player on the pitch and the other times, he was a lazy sod.

Well I'll be damned, we won a game, but that was in the past and now, we have a nice little local derby to look forward to and the return of a former Imps' "favourite". Peter Gain makes his first return to the club since his departure in the summer after several less than complimentary comments about the Imps.

If City win (usually a cursed phrase around this site), the Imps will almost certainly be in the playoff places and what's even more surprising, will have extended a run that has seen the first team squad, lose just two games (playoffs included) since the playoff defeat to Southend.

As usual, Robinson is still injured but a curious selection problem could soon occur with Green getting an unexpected, an impactful recall to the squad after coming in on Tuesday night and setting up the 2nd goal. It is widely believed that he will replace Asamoah in the starting lineup.

Who I think will start (Right to left)

Marriott

Beevers     Morgan    McCombe   Mayo

Cryan     Kerr     Keates

Birch  Green

Peterborough currently sit on 11 points after 8 games, level on points but two places below the Imps. They started their season with two 1-0 defeats on the trot, the first at home to Chester and the second away at Carlisle. However, 2 defeats were followed by 2 wins with a 3-2 win at Bristol Rovers, that was followed by a 2-0 win at home to Mansfield Town.

A defeat in thet Carling Cup was followed by a draw against Torquay and then another draw, 2 days later at fellow relegatees Stockport. Peterborough won their first local derby of the season with a 2-0 victory at Rushden and Diamonds before losing at home to Grimsby last weekend.

Peterborough have only one ex Lincoln player in that squad, Peter Gain. The midfielder was a Jekyll and Hyde character. One minute he'd play with all the skill we knew he had but the next, he looked like he quite frankly, couldn't be bothered as he wouldn't make even a slight attempt to win a ball that came with 3 inches of his foot. On his day, he was a great player but one the other days, he was a lazy sod. After he left in the summer, there were a lot of reports of him slagging off the Imps and will more than likely get a mixed reception on Saturday

There have been no recent meetings.
