Imps out of Lincolnshire Senior Cup
By Nathan Jackson July 31 2005
Lincoln City fielded a very young team but lost on penalties in the Lincolnshire Senior Cup semi final. City, who won the competition last year were elimated after a 3-2 finish on penalties after an exciting 3-3 draw in the 90 minutes. Most fans has viewed this result as unimportant though.

City had played Boston at the same stage last season and City had progressed and history looked to be repeating itself at some stages. However, not a lot of fans care about this competition because it's very rare that either team fields their first team in this competition, City fielded no first team players whereas Boston fielded Paul Ellender, Daryl Clare and Mark Greaves.

Daryl Clare missed a penalty in the first half but Boston did manage to take the lead very early in the 2nd half when Rob Norris poked the ball home. Ollie Ryan did equalise though with a cross come shot minutes later, he added a second minutes later before and Tom Wilkinson scored the 3rd from a Leon Mettam cross to make it 3-1.

Boston soon level however with two goals from Forbes and Clare drew the Pilgrims level.

So it went to a penalty shoot out. City missed their first two from Ryan and Frecklington. However, Boston scored their first two from Tom Noble and Daryl Clare. Shane Clarke did get City into the shoot out before Doherty made it 3-1. Wallace scored for the Imps and then Norris missed for Boston. O'Boyle missed the deciding penalty.
