Shrews complete relegation duo
By Nathan Jackson April 30 2006
Shrewsbury become the 2nd side in 24 hours that I've predicted for a relegation and I don't think many will argue. Long unvictorious runs last season show exactly why they finished so low down the table and if it wasn't for Kiddy and Cambridge, they'd probably be down, and those 2 teams are now gone

Name Shrewsbury Town

Location Shrewsbury, Shropshire

Manager Gary Peters

Ground Name Gay Meadow

Last Season Shrewsbury almost became the proverbial footballing yo-yo last season. After becoming only the 3rd side to ever bounce straight back into the league after relegation (after City and Darlington), they almost plundered straight back out of it. The oddest part about it was, when City played them on the very first day of the season, they showed a lot of promise and should have at least got a point of the game.

14 games and only 2 wins later, they were staring trips to Tamworth and Dagenham square in the face again and many people blamed it on the lack of form of Luke Rodgers but even if he did have a decent scoring record last season, it still probably won't have changed a lot.

However, after spending the majority of the season in the 4, they finally started picking themselves up around February, scoring 13 goals in 3 home games and although they only won 1 more game after that little run, that run probably saved them from the drop, obviously not in terms of points, but in terms of mentality.

This season? Well Rodgers has gone so that's a potential 20 goals gone with him. Many question whether their form will improve as they've brought in a lot of new and unknown players and could Gary Peters be about to send his 2nd consecutive club into the conference? Only time will tell.

Prediction 23rd - Need I say more?
