Not exactly a diamond shine
By Nathan Jackson July 28 2005
In their 4 years in the football league, Rushden have a playoff final, a championship and a relegation, all about to end? Rushden's form last season was completely and utterly dire and only the poor form of Kidderminster and Cambridge saved them and their short stay on the league could be over.

Name Rushden and Diamonds

Location Irthlingborough

Manager Barry "The Crybaby" Hunter

Ground Name Nene Park

Last Season Rushden almost made it the final of 4 memorable years in the football league. A playoff final appearance, was followed by promotion before they were relegated back and last season, they almost got relegated back from whence they came. The most surprising part of Rushden's near fatal season was that they got off to a decent start with 7 points from their first 4 games.

However, after that first four games, they only achieved 3 more league wins before New Years and were very very close to being guaranteed relegation, and were blessing their luck that Kidderminster and Cambridge were so incredibly awful during the season. Rushden only won 8 games after that first 4 games and the poor form was shown when City played them in March. Despite taking the lead, City eventually won 4-1 after Drewe Broughton had been sent off for the hosts. Disappointly from their point of view, the way the game was going, they could have won themselves if that hadn't happened.

After that game, Barry Hunter decided to become a crybaby, even Brian Laws had never acted like such a crybaby, see the link at the bottom of the page to see what I mean.

This season? I'll keep this sort and sweet, anything other than relegation would be a miracle.

Prediction 24th - I'm sorry but since the money went, they've been crap and their form last season was dyer and played a lot worse than either Cambridge or Kidderminster. At least it would have been an interested 5 years.
