Those who talk Cobblers, play Cobblers

Northampton are the bookies favourites for the title but will they even come close to even a playoff place or stay here again? Despite the signings of some impressive pre-season signings, their inconsistency has always been their problem and the expatations of some of their idiotic fans doesn't help

Name Northampton Town

Location Northampton, Northamptonshire (what a coincidence)

Manager Colin Calderwood

Ground Name Sixfields

Capacity 7,500

Last Season Northampton were one of the favourites for the title and after winning their first two games, it seemed like a good bet. However, the usual inconsistency started and they only remained around the promotion picture because everyone else was just as inconsistent. The prime example of this inconsistency is when they came to Sincil Bank, 2-0 up at half time only to concede 3 in the second half and lose 3-2.

However, the winning mentality did eventually kick in and then slowly but surely confirmed their place in the playoffs. However, a winless run towards the end of the season needed them to win all their remaining 3 games to stand a decent chance of making the playoffs, and they won all 3.

So into the playoffs they went and two dull games later, only a controversial penalty for Southend kept them from meeting the Imps in the playoff final.

This season? Having signed one or two impressive players, Northampton have been made favourites for the League 2 title this year by many bookies and if the division was played on paper then they would win by a country mile, however, it isn’t, so I don’t believe they won’t.

Despite beating us near the end of the season, I personally saw nothing that really showed them to be as impressive as everyone makes out and even Nortahmpton fans themselves kept on saying the same thing and apparently, the pre-season friendlies are indicating that nothing will improve anytime soon.

Prediction 10th, although having a comfortable season, they will probably not finish even close in terms of points to the top 7.
