City beat Sligo
By Nathan Jackson July 12 2005
In City's first game since the playoff final defeat, the Imps beat Sligo Rovers 2-1 with goals from Mayo and Ryan. An apparantly poor game saw both teams struggle to create chances but City won thanks to a goal in second half injury time.

City relied heavily on the long ball which has become the way in the 3 years that Keith Alexander has been in charge. Mayo gave City the lead with a scrambled goal at the end of the first half before Sheridan equalised for Sligo. It looked to be heading for a draw before Ollie Ryan struck home injury time to give City a good start to the pre-season programme.

City's next friendly is at Coleraine, Gareth McAuley's former club.
