Super Sandwith Steals Show

The opening stages of the game were cagey with Kidderminster's Jenkin's having the first oppurtunity but his header went quite wide. The Imps went right up the other end of the pitch and got a corner. The ball was headed out by a Kidderminster defender and it fell to Sandwith on the corner of the penalty area. His thunderous volley was parried by Danby and GTF smashed the ball home although it was ruled out for offside.

It was a poor first half and the next real piece of action came in the last few minutes of the half time. Carruthurs chipped the ball to Yeo and he was running towards the 25 yard area and all of a sudden, Danby was there and Yeo tapped the ball, Danby moved his arm to the ball but it fell straight back to Yeo again and after he almost fell over, he finally managed to pass the ball into the back of the net for 1-0.

The 2nd half began quite like the first with very few chances but in the 57th minute a Brazilian like passing move saw the ball crossed in and GTF headed the ball across goal and Sandwith ran around the statues Kidderminster called a defence and scored his first goal for the Imps with a very powerful headed.

Mazza finally got something to do in the 72nd minute when a Dean Keates shot tested the promisiing young keeper.

City soon made it 3-0. A corner was returned to Sandwith who put in a wicked curling cross and the most faint of touches by GTF saw him score his first goal since the game against Notts County.

A few minutes later, City gained a free kick around 25-30 metres out of goal and Sandwith stepped up and released an absolutly "Speedy Gonzalez" shot that smashed back against the bar and would have been on of the better goals seen at the Bank this Millenium.

Nothing else happened action wise but on an uplifting note. Adam Kerley became the first youth team graduate to make his debut for the first team in the league since Paul Mayo in 2000.
