City visited Yeovil for the first time ever and I personally found it to be a very nice ground with a good atmosphere and it was an allround good day, except for the match.

MATCH : NATIONWIDE LEAGUE DIVISION 3 : YEOVIL TOWN 3 LINCOLN CITY 1

DATE : Saturday 29th October 2003

METHOD OF TRAVEL : I went on the coach with some of the normal bunch but it was quite a boring trip down south. The first coach was full whilst coach number two (which we were on) was about a third full. The most ironic incident had to be when they were doing the raffle and they just went straight by Sam, coming back to him after about five minutes of shouting. He ended up winning the main prize of £5.

PRE MATCH ATMOSPHERE : No-one really knew what to expect considering we had never ever played Yeovil prior to this. I had heard reports that they were the most impressive side in the Division so I would have been happy with a draw but surprise, surprise, I was the only one not predicting a win. THE GROUND : In typical ex-conference style, the ground is small but tidy. The two stands at the side were pretty much identical with green seats with some white seats spelling “YTFC”. Each of these stands holds about 3,000 at a guess. The stand behind the goal was exactly the same as the away end but with a roof on it and both can hold around 1,500. I quite liked the ground and had it been all-seated, it would be one of the better stadiums in Division 3. The stands were small enough that a double decker bus parked outside the away end meant that some pays were able to look over the terrace and watch the game, as well as a lot of people on the hill.

ATMOSPHERE FROM CITY FANS : Most people only started chanting for the four minutes we were winning. There was the usual 10 or so of us chanting all the way through though.

ATMOSPHERE FROM YEOVIL FANS : Although they were chanting for all but 4 minutes of the match, they didn’t seem particularly loud. Some interesting chants though including the ‘Death March’ from Star Wars.
