A very rude awaking for City fans came in the first half. City had been on the back foot all half and despite having less chances, they had the better one.
Marcus Richardson tried to overhead kick a Kevin Ellison cross in but the ball fell to the feet of Fletcher but the striker shot straight at the on rushing goalkeeper.
Southend took the lead on the 30th minute when a cross from Kevin Maher was weakly headed back to Marriott and Leon Constantine managed to get his foot to the ball first and sneak it in for a 1-0 lead.
City lacked concentration and were quickly 2-0 down. After struggling to get the ball clear, the ball fell to Constantine and the tall striker hammered the ball past Marriott.
The Imps offered little resistances until after half time when it was all Lincoln. City did get a goal on 53 minutes when Francis Green volleyed his shot into the net.
Enter Mr Penn, the worst referee I have ever seen, he didn't see blatent pushes, elbows, trips, penalty decisions, you could list everything and he missed it.
The most blatent thing he ignored was a Futcher header that cross the line but wasn't given. It did cross the line, City players and fans knew it, the Southend players definatly knew it as their heads went in their hands, everyone in the ground knew it, except for Mr Penn, who despite the ball going at least a foot over the line, didn't even flinch.
City did eventually see hope though as 5 minutes added on time was shown and 3 minutes in, Yeo latched onto a long ball to smash the ball into the goal to give the Imps playoff chances a boost.
With all teams around us getting bad results, it would have been nice to get a win to get back in those playoff positions but I'd rather take a 2-2 draw than a 2-1 defeat anyday.
