Another poor performance sees 2 runs ended
By Nathan Jackson
January 17 2004
City today lost 2 records, one is 10 games without defeat and the other, an undefeated record at home since the first week. City were incredibly poor throughout and didn't deserved any points and have taken only a point from 2 home games where we should have expected at least 4.
Jo Kuffour provided the downfall for City's proud home record after an award winning performance as he was involved in all 3 of Torquay's goals.

Their first goal came in the 9th minute when a cross when tapped down by Kuffour down to Jason Folwer who smashed the ball into the net.

City got themselves back into the game half an hour later when a Ben Sedgemore corner was headed home by "the fan's excuse" Paul Mayo. Mayo in recent months has been to blame for everything that went wrong in every game despite other players making similar mistakes but being forgiven.

However, 10 minutes into the 2nd half, Kuffour was allowed the freedom of the area and passed to Kevin Hill who produced a low volley into the goal.

Less than a minute from time, Kuffour who was easily the most impressive player on the pitch, ran at Marriott before chipping over the diving keeper.

So after not being beaten at home since the first week, City have now ended that with a truly miserable performance. Other results have helped though as City slip to 7th.

God knows why Simpson keeps using players like Cropper, he just quite simply doesn't know how to run. He is one of quietest players on the pitch and seems to refuse to move to the ball which might explain why he hasn't scored since October 26th 2002. However, he is not the only one to blame. Peter Gain is becoming a liability. Now when he's near the area and there's 5 defenders running towards him, he doesn't pass it and tries to get past them all but ends up losing the ball. Gainy, here's a tip, PASS WHEN YOU CAN'T GET PAST EVERYONE.
